CPI Security and Charlotte Knights Baseball Clinic

CPI Security partnered with the Charlotte Knights to host the second-annual Safe at Home Play Ball! baseball clinic at Truist Field on Wednesday, June 15, and Thursday, June 16.

CPI and the Charlotte Knights welcomed more than 50 kids from the Police Activities League (PAL) and the Carolina Metro Reds to the camp.

CEO and Founder of CPI Security, Ken Gill, stopped by the first day of camp to see the kids play and meet with Charlotte Knights COO Dan Rajkowski.

“CPI is dedicated to helping today’s youth create a better tomorrow,” Gill said. “We do that by giving kids access to new opportunities, and I can’t think of a better way to kick off summer break than to spend the day with the Charlotte Knights.”

“What a wonderful opportunity it is for the Carolina Metro Reds and these kids that come out here to be involved with our players and to be involved with our officers that work so hard in this community and to just come out, play a little baseball, and have some fun,” Rajkowski said.

Over the course of two days, Charlotte Knights baseball players led drills, campers interacted with the players and Homer the dragon, and had lunch in the Home Plate Club.   Courtesy of CPI, each camper received a hat, t-shirt, and CPI water bottle.

“Today is a great experience for a lot of young people. We are getting the chance to be at the Knights Stadium, a minor league baseball stadium,” Carolina Metro Reds Parent Coach Mark Raley said. “For these kids to play little league baseball and watch the Knights from the stands, but then to be on the field is a great experience. It’s a lifetime experience they will never forget.”

Led by former MLB player Coach Morris Madden, the Carolinas Metro Reds’ mission is to provide a safe opportunity for underserved youth to develop baseball and life skills, advance academically, and grow socially in a family environment.

Thirty-five kids from PAL also attended camp with PAL leaders like Officer Reggie Gilmore.

“I would like to thank CPI and the Charlotte Knights for inviting us to camp again this year. It seems like the kids are having a great, great time,” Officer Gilmore said.

Since 1968, the Police Activities League of Charlotte has been offering academic and athletic programs to children in Mecklenburg County. Led by CMPD officers, PAL’s mission is to provide access and opportunities to young people through programs and initiatives that create lifestyle advances.
